All-on-4® Treatment Concept
If you have lost a significant number of teeth, we know what a harrowing experience it can be. It can be difficult to know where to start, especially when the subject is something as dear to us as one’s teeth. However, there is no need to let this problem affect all facets of your life. Dental procedures to remedy the loss of multiple teeth are very advanced and extremely convenient, as well as affordable. Our experts at Kevin Kay DDS Comprehensive Family Dentistry will be able to get you smiling with confidence in no time, but in the meantime, feel free to take a look at one of the leading ways we use to treat the loss of multiple teeth: the All-on-4 treatment plan.
What Is the All-on-4, and What Makes It Special?
The All-on-4 treatment plan is a specially designed treatment plan meant to help patients that suffer from extensive tooth loss. As the name suggests, All-on-4 dental implants cut down on the number of implants that are necessary for proper implantation to just four sites, which is a massive improvement from traditional methods of dental implants that may have as many as a single screw per replaced tooth. In this treatment plan, just four titanium screws are inserted into the jaw, which acts as the base for the implant. Then, the implants can be placed atop these screws, creating a natural-looking transition from tooth to tooth that can be missing if each tooth were to be individually implanted. Furthermore, the All-on-4 is a one-time deal, as opposed to many alternative procedures that may require repeat visits before the entire restoration is complete.
How Does All-on-4 Compare to Other Treatment plans?
One of the most immediately gratifying aspects of the All-on-4 treatment plan, especially when compared to many of its alternative procedures, is the impact it has aesthetically on a patient’s smile and dental function. Because of the reduced number of implants, the transition from tooth to tooth is very natural, replicating the look and feel of one’s original teeth immediately. Another massive benefit of the All-on-4 dental plan is that repeated visits are unnecessary, which is a common complaint with other types of dental procedures that require regularly scheduled fill-ins and procedures.
Recovery time with All-on-4 is also much shorter compared to traditional alternative procedures, which often have extensive recovery times and occasionally additional operations in the event complications arise. Unlike other types of dental implants that may rely on neighboring teeth in order to replace missing teeth, the All-on-4 dental procedure does not negatively impact the underlying bone structure. In fact, one benefit of the All-on-4 procedure is that it preserves and strengthens the underlying jawbone material, preventing bone degeneration that may have occurred if the procedure had not been undertaken.
